My JNCIE Journey

My JNCIE Journey

This is Fernanda's Blog, a new site I created to share my thoughts, stories, and experiences about networking.

In this first post, let me share the story of how I became a JNCIE. It was a dream come true, and it is unbelievable that I have now reached the JNCIE level.

It all started from the first time I entered SMK/Vocational High School. At that time, I was undecided about which major I should choose. Most of my friends who wanted to enter SMK preferred automotive or mechanical majors, but I didn't know anything about those fields and wasn't interested in them. So, I decided to major in TKJ (Teknik Komputer Jaringan), a.k.a. Computer & Network Engineering. My simple reasoning as a junior high school student was that TKJ didn't seem tiring because we worked in front of a laptop. Although I didn't fully understand what TKJ would actually entail, I chose it anyway.

Then, when I was a 2nd-grade student, my routine was like any typical TKJ student: go to school, study, come home, watch anime, and sleep. One day, there was a program called IDN Mengajar (IDN Teaching Program), organized by the IDN Foundation/IDN.ID. The purpose of the program is to share the knowledge that IDN Academy students have learned with vocational school students across Indonesia. Coincidentally, my school was one of the schools visited by the IDN Teaching Program. This was my introduction to IDN. For five days, several students majoring in TKJ, including me, participated in the program. We learned about MTCNA & MTCRE, and I met my first IDN Academy mentors, Mas Miftah and Nabil. This experience sparked my interest in networking, and I wanted to deepen my knowledge in this field. I asked Mas Miftah how to get into the IDN Academy, and he explained what was needed. After graduating from SMKN 1 Gombong, I decided to enter the IDN Academy.

Long story short, after graduating from SMK and continuing my studies at IDN Academy, I met many great friends and mentors who guided me in networking. Within a year, I obtained several network certificates such as MTCNA, MTCRE, MTCINE, and CCNA. Achieving all of this in such a short time was something I never imagined. After studying at the IDN Academy, I worked at IDN.ID as a Trainer and Network Engineer. Here, I started studying Juniper because IDN.ID lacked permanent trainers for Juniper. Soon after, I earned my JNCIA-Junos certificate and began teaching JNCIA-Junos classes at IDN. Eventually, I earned the JNCIP-SP certificates and taught JNCIP-SP classes.

In May 2021, I decided to seek work experience outside IDN due to an offer from Mas Aries Sadewa to join IPNET. I decided to move to IPNET to expand my experience with Juniper devices. After a year at IPNET, I was offered the chance to take the JNCIE exam with Mas Aries. We decided to study together for the JNCIE-SP exam. Mas Aries took the exam in August, and I took it in October. Alhamdulillah, we both passed the exam. It is still hard to believe how quickly I became a JNCIE-SP.

A big thank you to my parents, my family, and my girlfriend, Nurul Azmina, who have always supported me.

Thank you to SMKN 1 Gombong, Mas Miftahul Huda, and Nabil Qisnulloh Adijaya for introducing me to IDN. Without them, I would not have known what IDN is.

Thank you to all my mentors and seniors at IDN who have guided me: Mas Ikhwan, Mas Rosid, Mas Oky, Mas Miftah, Mas Aries, Mas Fadhil, and Mas Sahrul for the knowledge they have shared.

Thank you to IPNET for giving me the opportunity to take the JNCIE-SP exam, and thank you to Mas Aries Sadewa for guiding me to pass the JNCIE-SP exam.

Big Thanks to Everyone.

With Love,
Fernanda Adhipramana, JNCIE-SP #3098
